Reusable Bags Live Aloha

Blog Category:  ,

Did you know that Maui and Kauai counties have gone “BYOB” – Bring Your Own Bag, that is? That’s right, on January 1, 2011, both Maui and Kauai counties banned the use of plastic shopping bags from retail outlets. A bold step by our neighbor island communities and a call to action for residents and visitors alike, the move was perhaps most importantly a true act of aloha for our island home.

Almost a year later, “BYOB” has become an everyday practice for most of us. And you’ll see us using a variety of colorful reusable bags as beach totes, carry-ons, and more.

Here at Shops of Hawaii, we’ve designed a wide selection of reusable bags that celebrate Hawaii. My personal favorite is our exclusive "Aloha" reusable bag. Bright and colorful, the design features favorite local and Hawaiian words – and comes with a translation card so you know what they mean when your friends ask. A hit with visitors and locals alike, our “Aloha” bags have been seen at beaches and airports not just here in the islands but across the globe. They are available only at Shops of Hawaii stores and now online at our Shop.

So pick one up and Reuse, Recycle and Live Aloha!
