Family Fun This Summer in Hawaii

Blog Category:  ,

It is officially summer! The days are hot, the nights are cool, and there are so many fun things to do! Summer is a great time to spend time with the ohana and create memories that will last a lifetime. As keikis we all remember family outings at the beach or going to the 50th state fair and now we found some new and exciting activities for your family to enjoy this summer.

On the Big Island, check out the 22nd Annual Rubber Duckie Race at Kings’ Shops. This event benefits The United Cerebal Palsy of Hawaii and is sure to be fun for the whole family. Adopt one or an entire “quack pack” and on July 4th at 3:00pm watch them race down Kings’ Lake. The owners of the first 50 duckies to cross the finish line will win some great prizes. Adoption tables are now up at Kings’ Shops so hurry down to adopt a ducky for yourself and your keiki. For more information on this event, click here. While you are there, swing by our store, Whalers General Store, to pick up necessities and some great gifts for yourself, family or friends.

To start some new Fourth of July traditions on the island of Oahu, checkout the Independence Day Parade in Kailua. This event is sponsored by the Kailua Chamber of Commerce and will feature 200 marchers, 40 vehicles, 40 floats and 4 bands! Be sure to get there early, grab some poke at the local Foodland, and sit back and enjoy the festivities. The parade will begin at 10:00 am.

And last but certainly not least for great Fourth of the July activities checkout the fireworks display at Ala Moana Beach Park. The event is anticipated to have over 30,000 participants!! The fireworks will be located off of Magic Island and will begin at 8:30pm to 8:50pm. Get there early to reserve a good spot.
We hope you checkout some of the great summer activities we recommended and please be sure to share your experience with us on our Facebook page or tweet us @shopsofhawaii.
